Rivas Rob Roy should be able to make his presence felt but the two who make most appeal are Mercurist and NOBLE QUEEN, with narrow preference for the latter who did enough in a similar contest here three weeks ago to suggest she will be a major contender. Tavrina is interesting on her debut for Stuart Williams and needs checking in the market.

14:15 Rain Gauge

Newcomer Sea The Shells looks the most interesting of the three Derby entrants and is certainly one to note in the betting. Reverential and Act Naturally showed enough on their debuts to suggest they can make an impact, but the main protagonists could be RAIN GAUGE and Justicialism, who may come home in that order.

14:50 Tacora

Any money for handicap debutant Don’t Tell Dj would be interesting but it would take a leap of faith to select him so the vote goes to TACORA, another who is far from exposed but who showed enough last time to suggest he is capable of winning a race off this mark. Perhaps The Pretty Way may give the selection most to think about.

Strong Power should go well with blinkers back on but the vote goes to the consistent INVINCIBLE LARNE, who is up only 2lb for winning last time and may be be able to go in again. Album, who is chasing a hat-trick, may give him most to do.

Not the strongest of handicaps and one which offers ESTRELA STAR (nap) a good chance to return to winning ways. He is 3lb below his last winning mark, was in fine form at around this time last year and ran well over an inadequate trip at Kempton last time. Looking For Carl hails from a stable in decent form and may give him most to do.

16:20 Elzaam’s Dream

Dylan’s Lad won well here 17 days ago and remains capable of better. He’s feared, along with Katelli, but ELZAAM’S DREAM has yet to run a poor race in handicaps over this C&D and she can gain a deserved success.

16:50 Mjolnir

Most of these are known quantities and although Storm Melody, Rockesbury and Trusty Rusty all enter calculations, perhaps the well-bred handicap debutant MJOLNIR could be worth siding with. He hinted at promise in novice company, has been gelded since his last run and this won’t take a great deal of winning.
