Horse Racing Tips: A best bet for every race at Newcastle including a 16/1 play

The Racing Post take us through the card at Newcastle on Tuesday and tip up the 16/1 Saisons D'Or in the 18:40.

16:40 King Of The South (NAP)

Alpha Theta remains unexposed after two demolitions of ordinary fields on Fibresand and the market will show what connections make of her opening mark. Autumn War had excuses last time but his recent improvement has come in cheekpieces, which are removed tonight, and this can go to KING OF THE SOUTH (nap), who did nothing wrong when coming away with a subsequent winner over C&D last time and who could well improve again in first-time headgear.

17:10 Arabic Welcome

Christian Howarth has struck up a good relationship with ARABIC WELCOME, who’ll appreciate the return to Tapeta and drop in trip, and he’s able to claim the full 7lb again into an apprentice race. Absolute Dream’s latest C&D second has worked out particularly well but he’s exposed and boasts a poor strike-rate, and Pholas could prove the biggest danger.

17:40 Flyin’ High

With last summer’s debut fourth having worked out particularly well since, and his comeback C&D victory boosted by wins for the runner-up and third, the claims of the penalised FLYIN’ HIGH are there for all to see. This trip is likely to prove a minimum requirement for several of the others, including newcomer Kehailaan, but he’s one to watch in the betting.

18:10 Equate

Bryan Smart has had a good month thus far, with three winners and three seconds from seven runners, several of them at big prices, and EQUATE looks on a workable mark now handicapping. The progressive It Just Takes Time is a danger, despite the slight worry about the return to 5f, while Jacattack has to prove he’s as good on this surface as Fibresand.

18:40 Saisons D’Or

None of the ten can be ruled out and a chance is taken on SAISONS D’OR, who’s on a career-low mark and has run well here first time out in each of the previous three seasons. Tracy Waggott, whose only two runners last week won here on Thursday, has another decent chance by way of Ghathanfar, while Kapono is evidently felt capable off this mark.

19:10 Atholliblair Boys

The three last-time-out winners each made all the running and Spartan Fighter, who’s led all three starts since fitted with the visor, is perhaps most likely to take them along. Devil’s Angel has won fresh before and has possibilities but last year’s winner ATHOLLBLAIR BOY, who’s fully 12lb lower this time, should be spot on after two runs back from a break and can retain his crown.

19:40 Sound Reason

This probably comes down to Ooh Is It, for whom the drop in trip is a worry in a small field, and the standard-setting SOUND REASON, who ought to get off the mark.
