A nice competitive 6f dirt handicap but I like Meydan stalwart LAVASPIN here. He runs to the track bias and will be nicely up with the pace here over his preferred trip.
Godolphin just run seven of the 10 runners here but I still like the top weight COMMUNIQUE. Unfortunately he is showing signs of being gone at the game but I think we can forgive any horse running a poor race on their UAE debut. This son of Casamento is a genuine group animal and has good form over this trip. He is entirely entitled to come on for his run two weeks ago but there is a lingering doubt that he not be what he was – however, we are getting fair compensation in terms of price for the risk.
I really fancied MOUHEEB to win the trial for this race two weeks ago against Rebel’s Romance but the latter really impressed me under a hands and heels effort and skips this event to go for the riches of the Saudi Derby in three weeks time. I don’t think his replacement Naval Crown will have enough on his dirt debut to put away Mouheeb, who lost little in defeat.
FIRST SMILE was one of the best bet horses of the carnival supported into odds-on by warm cash and the shrewd money looked to be collecting 1f from home but the tank emptied rapidly and he got nutted by Topper Bill in the final 50 yards. However I feel he will come on for the run and the extra furlong will be in his benefit – this could be a short-priced winner for us.

Another proper carnival race, with 14 runners over 6f on the turf, and Paddy Power is paying an extra place. I hold Ken Condon in very high regard and I think he places his horses well – this could be another case in point, while getting a high draw also helps the cause. This is COULD BE KING‘s second UAE start and I felt he ran a perfectly good race against good horses in the Al Fahidi Fort. Now down in class, I think he has a great chance.
