1.30pm, Doncaster – Shishkin
It is a shame that the Colin Tizzard stable have had such a shocking season, because you would love to see Eldorado Allen at his best and see him challenge SHISHKIN.
Shishkin is odds-on for the Arkle, but Frank has been going on about Energumene for ages and his price has drastically shortened so Shishkin has to p*** up in this race to justify being odds-on. He has to be ultra-impressive here, and if he’s not ultra-impressive then he should drift because there are one or two realistic challenges for the Arkle now.
He needs to start stepping up and proving that he’s up to it.
2.05pm, Doncaster – Marie’s Rock
Floressa looks to be Nicky Henderson’s No 1 because Nico de Boinville is riding, but I actually think MARIE’S ROCK will prefer the softer ground. Floressa might want better ground, so I’m looking at Marie’s Rock – there might not be much between them, and Nico de Boinville might have chosen wrong for this race. At the price, Marie’s Rock makes more appeal on the soft ground. Paul Nicholls’ horse Miranda just might not be as good as those two.

2.40pm, Doncaster – Emir Sacree
I was impressed with EMIR SACREE first time out for Nicky Henderson at Ascot. The fact that he was weak in the market only strengthens my resolve because I always like when they win, and run well, when they aren’t particularly fancied. This is a step up in trip to 3m+ but I think that he might be well-aimed for it and this could book a ticket for the Albert Bartlett. I could see Emir Sacree running at the festival.
3.15pm, Doncaster – Cap Du Nord
When I started looking at this race, CAP DU NORD was 4/1 and he looked the obvious one but I wanted to try and find something at a bit of a price. I was then interested in Canelo but the more you come back to Cap Du Nord, he beat Canelo two runs ago and then was second last time out to Royale Pagaille who looked unbelievable. Maybe it’s just a case of “If it quacks, it’s a duck”. Why look any further?
