1.00pm – Brianstorm
BRIANSTORM is now a nine-year-old, but he is lightly raced for his age and shaped very well on his first start for 22 months at Exeter 19 days ago. He attracted support so had clearly been showing up well at home and saw off the challenge of the favourite only to be nabbed by one ridden more patiently close home.
This is a quick enough turnaround after a lay-off, but he represents a yard that do well with such types, and he remains well handicapped having gone up 2lb.
1.32pm – Sam Barton
An intriguing maiden hurdle with the tentative vote going to SAM BARTON, who boasts some tidy form – particularly his hurdling debut effort when fifth in a strong race at Chepstow. The winner that day went on to win a Grade 2 in impressive fashion on his next start and, while Sam Barton didn’t improve as much as expected at Hereford last time, he again bumped into an above-average sort who has since won again. The galloping nature of this track will play to his strengths and he looks the one to side with.
2.05pm – Ibleo
IBLEO is another lightly-raced sort for his age for the Venetia Williams stable and he is a strong fancy following his impressive victory at Sandown last time. He had finished runner-up on his previous two starts, but that was strong form, and he was ridden with supreme confidence at Sandown in a race run at a fair gallop. Ibleo was never stronger than at the finish on that occasion and had plenty in hand, so a subsequent 7lb rise in the weights looks lenient, and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t follow up.

2.37pm – Talking About You
TALKING ABOUT YOU is a likeable and progressive filly with a couple of Listed wins already to her name. She has been kept going since the summer, but is clearly thriving on racing, winning her last three starts, showing that she doesn’t need to lead when successful in a similar event at Taunton last time. That wasn’t the strongest race for the level, but she did it well enough, and is worth following again despite a 5lb penalty.
3.10pm – Flinteur Sacre
There is likely plenty more to come from FLINTEUR SACRE, a full-brother to the mighty Sprinter Sacre, after his promising start over hurdles at Newbury. He was an impressive winner of a bumper at Kempton last season and, though beaten at prohibitive odds on his hurdling debut, there was plenty to take from that performance and he is almost certain to build on that here. Granted Flinteur Sacre settles better, he should prove too strong for Jack Sharp, who is another exciting prospect.
3.45pm – Bullion
Lots with chances but BULLION got right back on track when an excellent third at Newcastle last month. That return to form came from out of the blue, but he has now fallen to a career-low mark, and is all of a sudden of interest. He has first-time cheekpieces fitted now and will be very competitive if building on his latest run.

4.17pm – J’Ai Froid
J’AI FROID opened his account for this stable in convincing fashion at Ayr 11 days ago and, provided the visor has a similar effect, he should take the beating under a penalty. Several others make appeal, including last-time-out course and distance winners Uisce Ur and Tipalong Tyler, while Morozov Cocktail should benefit from this stiffer track than Catterick.
