12:50 Something Sweet
A weak affair in which SOMETHING SWEET can get off the mark over fences at the tenth attempt. These are calmer waters than she experienced last time at Leopardstown and she can fight this out with Miss Pernickety, who is open to improvement after a solid fourth at Limerick last time when she may have finished closer but for a late mistake.
13:20 Captain Guinness
A fascinating clash between three legitimate Sporting Life Arkle contenders. Blackbow needs to show that his Leopardstown blip hasn’t impacted his confidence, while CAPTAIN GUINNESS and Energumene arrive here on the back of dominant victories. Slight preference is for the former given we have an idea of his overall ability from his novice hurdles campaign, with the latter a little more of an unknown quantity. Paul Townend’s mount was beaten on his only start going left-handed but has surely developed plenty since that bumper outing.
13:50 Epson Du Houx
Though not that easy to assess, EPSON DU HOUX, making his handicap debut for top connections, does not seem overburdened for a convincing Clonmel win. Dakota Moirette, persistently frustrating over fences, has a solid chance nonetheless. Emily Moon and Chalky White are others to consider.
14:20 Blue Lord
Willie Mulllins 4, Gordon Elliott 3 is the scoreline for this race over the past seven years. Elliott has provided the last two winners, but Mullins may have the upper hand this time with French import BLUE LORD, the trainer’s only runner. Elliott has two in the line-up, but neither may prove as dangerous as Henry de Bromhead’s promising Bob Olinger or Jessica Harrington’s Grade 2 scorer Ashdale Bob.

14:50 Grand Paradis
The Willie Mullins-trained Captain Kangaroo has an edge in experience, but preference is for impressive Fairyhouse scorer GRAND PARADIS. The market support behind him on debut suggested he had been doing things right beforehand and he could be talented enough to make an immediate impact. Dual bumper winner On Eagles Wings and Limestone Rock also look interesting.
15:20 Danegeld (NAP)
Talented handicap chaser Glamorgan Duke is potentially well treated over hurdles but may not give the weight to recent Punchestown winner DANEGELD (nap) who seemed to have plenty in hand when winning an admittedly lesser race. Castle Town House, who chased home a vastly superior rival at Limerick, may pose a bigger threat than the juvenile Perry Owens.
15:50 Eyewitness
The market is likely to provide some significant clues. Gordon Elliott’s EYEWITNESS has a striking Flat pedigree, and Regal Statesman is one of several others with interesting pedigree claims. The Willie Mullins-trained filly Belle Metal also has to go on the shortlist.
