Paddy Power TV’s Carl Monaghan and Aoife Corrigan have picked their best bets for every race at Plumpton on Wednesday as they try and turn a profit for punters.
That means seven super selections ahead of the action, but will you follow their advice?
Horse Racing tips: Ruby Walsh’s best bets at Naas on Wednesday
Carl: 1.00pm – Make My Day
MAKE MY DAY makes his first start over the smaller obstacles today as well as debuting for Gary Moore. This 5-year-old was an accomplished performer on the flat for Ralph Beckett so it will be intriguing to see what the Galileo gelding can bring to hurdling.
Carl: 1.30pm – Gericault Roque
GERICAULT ROQUE is the one I am drawn to here in this race on the back of his bumper run when finishing second at Newton Abbot back in late October 2020 on what was heavy ground. There was lots to like about that run from the 5-year-old and with a wind op there could be more to come from this horse. David Pipe saddles the horse and his stable is going well with four winners in the last fortnight.
Carl: 2.00pm – Star Academy
This horse I’m sure will be tipped up in plenty of places but I really do think the 7-year-old STAR ACADEMY who has a great chance of winning this maiden hurdle. Finished down the field in Market Rasen bumper in February but put that behind him when third first time up over hurdles at Uttoxeter last month. Mont Segur who runs here was second in that race but with further improvement expected from the Venetia Williams runner here I think the tables can be turned here.

Carl: 2.30pm – Snuff Box
Cyclop will probably the most popular horse with punters in this veterans race but I am going to take him on with last time winner SNUFF BOX. The Venetia Williams-trained 10-year-old has put in two decent runs in it’s last two spins and I’d be expecting another bold showing for a yard who are coming into a bit of form. Hugh Nugent takes the ride and he takes 3lbs out of the saddle with his claimer so there is lots to like about this ones chances here.
Aoife: 3.00pm – March Is On
This is a tricky contest over 3m1f, with Pride of Pemberley the only last time out winner in the race. That win came at Fakenham only 9 days ago so with that recent line of form that certainly puts that horse spot on to be thereabouts but I am going with MARCH IS ON for Jonjo O’ Neill. This horse was beaten favourite last time out 22 days ago, when ridden by conditional jockey Kevin Brogan that day. He has Richard Johnson on his back today and interestingly enough, its Johnson’s only ride and I think it could possibly be a winning one.
Aoife: 3.30pm – High Up in the Air
A class 5 handicap chase over 2m and HIGH UP IN THE AIR for Gary Moore is very much the one they all need to beat. This horse has won on its last two starts – the last time was here at Plumpton only 10 days ago when winning over slightly further that day. They are dropping back in distance this time but kicking out in front early will see this horse very much involved. Another that ran well last time out was Impulsive Leader, who was a remote second and could run into a place again.
Horse Racing tips: Frank Hickey’s 3 best Wednesday bets at Naas and Kempton
Aoife: 4.00pm – Elios D’Or
The finale on the card is a 2m Handicap Hurdle with Magens Moon an interesting runner for the York Family. This horse had two races at Plumpton in 2019 and won both so clearly likes the course. The concern would be the horse hasn’t seen a racecourse in over 400 days but if fit and well could certainly be involved.
The Skelton runner will also be fancied to go well with a good second last time out but I think for value ELIOS D’OR could go well. This horse was second 42 days ago at Ludlow only beaten 1/2L, having his first start following a wind operation and it is interesting that the trainer Robert Walford is the most in-form trainer in the race with a 38 per cent strike rate in the last two weeks.
