The Racing Post like the look of Verne Castle at Wolverhampton this evening [6.15pm]

4.15pm – Daafy

Several have possibilities but the vote goes to DAAFY who showed plenty of promise with his second at Southwell on his handicap/stable debut and is open to further progress on this drop to 7f. Bold Decision and recent C&D winner Sharrabang are feared most, though Gonzaga returned to form with his runner-up effort here last month and has claims if he can build on that.

4.45pm – Perfect Rose (NAP)

Dubai Elegance had two of tonight’s rivals behind when winning this race off the same mark 12 months ago and she should make another bold bid with her yard back among the winners. This looks a stronger renewal, though, with the well-handicapped Thowq, who’ll appreciate the return to this trip after a pleasing debut for her new yard, and PERFECT ROSE(nap), who looked an unlucky loser over C&D last Monday, in opposition.

5.15pm – Aviary

Tashbeeh may be capable of better for his new yard back from a break, having been picked up from Ed Dunlop for 16,000gns, and is worth tracking in the market. Laxton Ladd’s C&D second last month looks solid enough, for a yard that’s been going well, but AVIARY has progressed with each of her three starts and should have more to offer.

5.45pm – Lead Story

Night Narcissus sets a good standard back in novice company but she extended her string of near-misses to four when again ducking left leaving the stalls here last time and doesn’t come without risk. Debut Chelmsford winner Strawbs and Miss Bella Brand, who shaped nicely at a big price on her 5f debut here recently, both represent in-form yards but LEAD STORY‘s opening C&D fourth has been well advertised since with victories for the winner, fifth and seventh next time out and she’s preferred.

6.15pm – Verne Castle

Mutabaahy didn’t fire at Newcastle in his hat-trick bid but he is 5-8 over C&D and is respected back at this track. Lihou went close on Polytrack last time and should be in the thick of things again, while The Daley Express has claims if this sets up for his closing style. However, the one that appeals most is VERNE CASTLE, who was only just caught at Lingfield last Monday and is on the same mark here on this drop back in grade.

6.45pm – Bangkok

It’s not certain who will go on but BANGKOK made the running once last year and produced one of his best RPRs, albeit ending up fifth of seven when 25-1 in that Group 1 at Royal Ascot. His very close call at Lingfield 23 days ago was sufficiently encouraging to earn him the vote, although all the field needs respect. Sinjaari is the other one with a recent run under his belt and he too ran well.

7.15pm – Blow Your Horn

Most of these have something to prove but the well-bred BLOW YOUR HORN is still unexposed and he returned from a lengthy absence with a promising fourth on his handicap debut over C&D last month. This four-year-old is an interesting contender on this drop back in grade and he gets the vote ahead of dual Tapeta winner First Response, who had an excuse at 7f last time and could be a big factor on this step back up in trip.
