3.25pm – Lopes Dancer
A three-time winner over this course and distance, LOPES DANCER wasted no time in returning to form at Wolverhampton at the beginning of the month, outrunning big odds to finish fourth. He is dropped a further 2lbs in the weights on the back of that and commands plenty of respect at a venue that plays to his strengths.
4.00pm – Diocles Of Rome
DIOCLES OF ROME returned to his best to finish second at Kempton in November, and he confirmed the promise of that run when going one better over this course and distance last month, proving better than ever as he recorded a cosy success, taking over in front over three furlongs out and ultimately eased down close home. He merits plenty of respect from 4lb higher.
4.30pm – Glasvegas
GLASVEGAS has been shaping well since making the switch to David Evans’ yard, hitting the frame in three of his four outings for his new stable, and a big run should be on the cards here. He came up less than a length short when third at this course last time, a race that is worth viewing positively considering the timefigures recorded, and he is far from discounted in a competitive-looking affair.

5.00pm – Venturous
Royal Birth merits respect in his bid for the hat-trick, but he had to get himself out of trouble at Lingfield last time, and it could be worth siding with the thriving VENTUROUS to continue his progression and come out on top. Although now an eight-year-old, Venturous is in the form of his life at present, winning three of his last four races, including over this course and distance back in November. He produced a career-best effort to land the odds at Wolverhampton last time, picking his way through in the final furlong before being ridden out. He comes out on top on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings and is a confident selection.
5.30pm – Ummalnar
UMMALNAR produced a smart performance to make the breakthrough at listed level at Dundalk in November, having the race sewn up a long way out and looking in a league of her own as she pulled six lengths clear of her nearest pursuer. She is lightly raced for her age and remains unexposed on the all-weather, so gets the vote over the globetrotting Vintager.
6.00pm – Baileys Warrior
BAILEYS WARRIOR shaped with plenty of promise on her debut at Wolverhampton last week, only a combination of greenness and less-than-ideal positioning preventing her from making a winning start, finishing well but just unable to catch the winner, to whom she was conceding experience and the first run. She emerges as potentially the best prospect from that race though, and with improvement likely, she gets the vote to go one better this time around.

6.30pm – Nordic Fire
NORDIC FIRE ran well over a mile here last month, showing his versatility with regards to trip, chasing home a subsequent winner, and he again ran creditably to finish third over this course and distance last time, a race that is worth viewing positively, particularly given the timefigures. He has the cheekpieces applied for the first time here and has a good chance on the pick of his form, so he must be taken seriously in a trappy-looking affair.
