Paddy Power TV’s Aoife Corrigan and Carl Monaghan have selected their best bets for every race at Newcastle on Tuesday afternoon as they attempt to find some winners on the card for our punters.
In a race which looks like Lopes Dancer might be the one to beat, I have decided to pick out MINISTER in this 1m 4f handicap. Kevin Philippart De Foy is a new up-and-coming trainer who caught the eye when saddling a couple of winners just back in December. I’d be very curious to see how this handicap newcomer gets on here, especially with Tom Marquand booked for the mount.
DIOCLES OF ROME will probably go off the market leader here, but I fancy the horse to win this 7-furlong handicap. It just ticks too many boxes to ignore. He won last time out over track and trip, but it was the manner of that win that was eye-catching taking over 3 furlongs out and driving home.
The in-form Laura Pearson rides and she is great value for her 7lbs claimer. The promising apprentice has won five races in the last fortnight. The horse has a 4lbs higher mark for this one, but it’s the one they all have to beat.
I like FUTURISTIC in this 6-furlong handicap, although it is the horse’s 2019 form that caught my eye. The big question is…is this the same horse? Futuristic makes his stable debut here off a potentially lenient mark, but has been off for over a year. However – if this five-year-old – now trained by Marco Botti, can return to form it may run into the places at a big price.
ROYAL BIRTH comes into this race in good form and seeking a hat-trick on the back of having won last week at Lingfield. Both trainer (Stuart Williams) and jockey (Jason Hart) are in a rich vein of form in the past couple of weeks too.
Williams who will saddle the 10-year-old here has seven winners in the last two weeks. Pilot Hart has only been in form too, with six winners of his own in the same period.

This is Class 2 conditional stakes over 1m with a small field of five runners, with three of the field been last time out winners. Vintager is a relative unknown quantity, as this horse has ran in Keenland and Baden Baden to name a few and had a good win on debut for Simon & Ed Crisford at Chantilly last time out. This horse could be anything and is one for the notebook.
But, I am going for COUNT OF AMAZONIA, who has won his last two starts. The jockey, Ben Curtis, has one win and two placed horses out of his four rides yesterday. He’s bang inform and this horse could land the hat-trick here.
This is a novice stake over 7 furlongs and Mark Johnson’s runner Baileys Warrior has the best line of form, with a good second on racecourse debut. She was only beaten a head on that occasion, so possibly will be tough to beat. But, for value, I am siding with a Nigel Tinkler runner.
He has two in the race, but MAYBE ONE DAY could have its day on Tuesday. The gelding was a massive 100/1 on debut back in Novemeber when not disgraced and only beaten 3 and-a-quarter lengths when fourth. He should come on for that run and will run well at a price.
The finale on the card is a 7-furlong handicap with a couple of previous course and distance winners. Great Colaci and Deolali are two of those who both won within the last few weeks and both have run well in the past. They should put in another solid performances, but NORDIC FIRE could go well at a price.
He was beaten favourite last time out, but has been placed on his last two runs. The jockey, Jason Hart, had one win and a second from his four rides on Sunday, so he very much on song and could get this one back to winning ways.
