It’s always great to kick-off a new year with good news and for one our punters from Birmingham it doesn’t get better than landing yourself over £17,000. But, that’s exactly what happened last Friday as our crafty customer somehow perfectly predicted the outcome of four races on the spin at Musselburgh.
Our winner gave our bean counters a kicking by placing his calls into an awesome accumulator with only a £5 stake and it beat off odds of 3,418/1 to come in. That result handed out victor a New Year’s Day windfall over £17,093 and it all landed in the space of less than two hours as the results rolled in from the Scottish track. Let’s tell you how the cash was claimed:
Our victor’s first selection on the betslip was Donald McCain’s NAVAJO PASS (11/1) in a handicap hurdle at 13:20. The gelding was given a sweet ride by Theo Gillard in the saddle and took up a lead he would never relinquish three flights from home. Newtown Boy was nowhere near him in second as Navajo Pass flashed by the winning post 9-and-a-half lengths in front to give our winner a perfect start to the day.
It was swiftly two wins from two about 40 minutes later as 22/1 outsider BLAKENEY POINT handed McCain a brace of winners at the track. This race was a lot tighter though, as Voix Du Reve challenged him all the way to the line. But, Brian Hughes managed to just get Blakeney Point a neck in front at the end.
Next on the hitlist was the 14:30, where our victor hoped EAGLE RIDGE (7/2) – again ridden by Brian Hughes – would be first past the post. Our punter was left to sweat it out as Nick Alexander-gelding took up the lead three from home. That’s because Oscar Ceremony would not give up the ghost and put in a game effort to leave people wondering who had won. But, thankfully confirmation came through that Eagle Ridge had done the business by a nose.
That left one selection waiting on the acca, ROMAN DE SENAN. But, our winner had no need to worry about Dan Skelton’s charge. The 13/2 shot may have hit the last under Harry Skelton, but he went on to secure an easy 12-length victory over the second-placed Schiehallion Munro.
That results meant the loot was landed to the tune of £17,093, and we could think of much worse ways to ring in 2021! Enjoy the winnings!
