14:20 – Brancaster

With George Ridsdale’s fine sequence having ended when he tried this trip last time, the most likely candidates are BRANCASTER and Quoteline Direct who have been runner-up on their last two starts. Kells and Autonomy are two to keep an eye on.

14:55 – Idilico

Others are perhaps less risky but a chance is taken on IDILICO, who is potentially on a very good mark following a change of stable and his last run at Pontefract wasn’t too shoddy an effort. Greengage beat some of these here recently but St Just might well gain his revenge if ridden closer to the pace now his stamina is proven.

15:30 – Duel In The Sun

Newmarket runner-up DUEL IN THE SUN is taken to go one better, assuming that the 204-day layoff won’t be an issue. Power Of Time has been absent for even longer but he’s another major contender on form, while Real Terms also needs a close look. Rhyme Scheme is more exposed but she has a good chance on her best efforts.

16:05 – Tricorn

With the return to 1m in his favour, the formerly useful TRICORN (nap) can make the most of a very handy mark and end his losing sequence. Second choice is Island Storm, who is another well-handicapped contender. Roller and My Boy Lewis may prove best of the remainder, based on last-time-out efforts.

16:35 – Sword Spirit

Jewel Maker looks good for another solid run but the one with potential is SWORD SPIRIT who came clear in good style on her handicap debut at Lingfield and need only act equally well on Tapeta to follow up. Catch My Breath is preferred of the remainder but Arabic Welcome is worth a market check as the drop in trip should suit on breeding.

17:05 – Absolute Dream

Cases can be made for a few of these but ABSOLUTE DREAM ought to be suited by today’s return to Tapeta and is taken to capitalise upon some help from the handicapper. Former sprinter Three Card Trick has made the frame over 7f on Fibresand on his last two appearances and looks interesting on this first 7f Tapeta run. Handicap debutant Arlo’s Sunshine is open to improvement, while Dramatista also makes the shortlist.

17:35 – Insurplus

It’s easy to spot the appeal of Richard Fahey’s low-mileage 3yo Unapologetic, who finished second when upped to today’s trip at Wolverhampton two weeks ago, but preference is for course regular INSURPLUS, who finished strongly for third over 6f here on his latest outing and now reverts to his optimum trip on a workable mark. Wrath Of Hector looked in excellent form on Fibresand last week and is next on the list, ahead of Nordic Fire and Born To Finish.

18:05 – Burrows Seeside

The return to sprinting will suit BURROWS SEESIDE, who’s progressed nicely here in recent months and remains open to a bit more improvement after just half a dozen starts. I Know How, who boasts good records both over C&D and in the winter months, is also considered in a trappy handicap.

18:35 – Lomu

A small field containing its share of hold-up sprinters and only one confirmed front-runner in the shape of Fashion Advice, who’s therefore hard to leave out of the equation in first-time headgear. Mutabaahy is 5-8 over this trip at Wolverhampton but 1-11 here, which is a negative off a career-high mark, and the vote goes to LOMU, who won twice on Tapeta last December and has been running well on Polytrack lately. Outrage, who has a good record over C&D, is another to consider carefully.
