Horse Racing tips: 3 to see at Philadelphia on Tuesday

5.52pm – Jammin Jimtown

Trainer Jamie Ness is operating off a 32 per cent strike rate at these Philadelphia meetings, off a sample size of over 300 runners. So when he runs one that has a literal, not figurative, stone in had you bet it. The negative might be that JAMMIN JIMTOWN is coming off a layoff of over a year and making his first start for Ness, but Ness has a 28 per cent strike rate for runners making their first start for him and is 18 per cent strike rate for horses off an over 180-day layoff – plus the work that Jammin Jimtown put in in late October and early November assures me that he retains his ability.

7.13pm – Kid D’Oro

Have I mentioned that Jamie Ness is 32 per cent at Philadelphia? Well he is and KID D’ORO is seeking a hat trick tonight. On paper, the pace bias doesn’t look overly kind but over today’s trip he is a better horse than his main market rivals and this looks another case of shrewd placing by Ness.

8.07pm – Nominator

Trainer Michael Pino is one of the top trainers at Parx and runs a large string of horses so he runs two in this 25k maiden claiming, but I’m going to side with his Morning Line outsider NOMINATOR. Pino has very eye catching stats for first time starters (first start 29 per cent, debut in maiden claimers 21 per cent and two-year-old old runners 19 per cent) plus Nominator has put in a few nice pieces of work beside some very ordinary ones.

But the big eye-catcher for me is that top Parx jockey Mychel Sanchez rides this over picking Run Happy Run that has experience and is our likely favourite, having run a very nice third on debut. It is worth nothing that Sanchez has ridden 112 times for Pino at Parx and Run Happy Run’s jockey has only ridden 16 times over the same period of time.
