Horse Racing tips: Jason Weaver's best bets at Wolverhampton & Dundalk

W’hampton 16:45 – Trouser The Cash

Managed to get her head in front a couple of runs back at Chelmsford when dropped back down to the minimum 5f trip. She’s obviously getting quicker with her racing and also benefited from the kid glove treatment from our rider Callum Shepherd. Her last run was complete throw out as she was knocked over in the early stages and did remarkably well to flash home and finish third. She’s no superstar, but a mark of 53 underestimates her ability.

Dundalk 17:00 – Koybig

The old boy showed that he still retains plenty of ability with a cracking effort last time, finding only one too good around this track over a mile. He has been gifted a nice position in stall two, just one off the paint, so he can track the early speed and we know he will hit the line very strongly stepping back to this 7f trip.

The David Marnane yard are hitting a bit of form and all his runners are worthy of a second look.

Dundalk 18:00 – Settle for Bay

Settle for Bay is another Marnane inmate who did us a favour last time at this track and doesn’t look to have been too harshly treated by the handicapper. That was a very impressive victory and a 6lb hike still leaves him on a very attractive mark of 88, considering his back class when winning the 2018 Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot off a mark of 99.

He is pretty adaptable as far as tactics are concerned and returning to the long sprint distance of 7f, I would expect him to be ridden handy in the early stages.

W’hampton 18:15 Thapa VC

Sir Mark Prescott’s runner steps into nursery company for the first time, having had two qualifying runs and was not given a particularly tough time on both occasions.

Both of those educational runs were over 6 furlongs at Kempton and at this venue, so he’s definitely going to find a good bit of improvement, now stepped up to this 7f trip. Regular rider Luke Morris makes the trip to Southwell in the afternoon instead, so he could be overlooked in the market.

Dundalk 19:00 Sky Seven

A classy runner from a classy outfit who has an official rating of 104. Luckily for us, they’ve decided to claim 7lbs off him and Sam Ewing couldn’t be in better form, having recorded a double at Dundalk on Wednesday. He put up a very decent performance when just finding one too good in Group 3 company behind Bowerman in September. He should have too many guns for this opposition especially with our young rider in such good form.

W’hampton 19:45 – Battle of Marathon

The eight-year-old has been in tremendous form of late and his most potent weapon is a very good change of gear in the closing stages. He showed us that at Chelmsford two runs back when bolting up from the back of the pack. Things didn’t pan out in his favour at Lingfield last time, as there was no to run at. Despite that, he made ground into the fastest part of the contest, so that run can be upgraded.

A smallish field with some in-form and unexposed runners will see him be a point or two bigger in the market with Paddy. Expect him to be flying late to pick up the pieces for another win.
