He meets that rival on 5lbs better terms here though, and Loulin gets the vote to reverse the form.

PASSIONAL came close to getting off the mark at Wolverhampton last month, unlucky not to finish even closer than she did after being stuck behind the winner and conceding first run. She stands out on form and this looks a good opportunity for her to break her maiden.

15:25 Accrington Stanley

After four weeks off, ACCRINGTON STANLEY showed improved form to finish a close third at Newcastle at the beginning of the month, a switch to more positive tactics showing him to much better effect. He has previously run with credit on this surface and has a good chance on form, so he makes the most appeal.

16:00 Fortultous

FORTULTOUS looks well suited to Southwell’s fibresand surface, finishing second to a thriving rival on his first outing at the venue, before going one better last month and holding off the rallying runner-up well. He was brought down two furlongs out at Wolverhampton last time, but he holds solid claims if none the worse for that incident.

HEMROCRATES pushed an improving three-year-old all the way over this course and distance in October, finishing clear of the remainder. He was unlucky to bump into another thriving sort at this venue last month, again beating the rest with a bit in hand. He has taken really well to this surface and should be up to winning a race like this.

17:10 Badger Berry

BADGER BERRY produced a career best to regain the winning thread over this course and distance in October, leading approaching the final furlong before forging clear to win comfortably, eased down late on. He was not seen to best effect when fourth under the same conditions last time, a slow start leaving him poorly placed.

But, he looks worth another chance to build on the good impression he made previously. He is a big horse, perhaps only now strengthening into his frame, and the likelihood is there’s more to come from him at this track.

17:45 The Golden Cue

THE GOLDEN CUE returned to form to win for the second time this season last month, also recording a second success over this course and distance. Pushed along early in the straight, The Golden Cue went on inside the final furlong and kept on well to repel the challenge of a younger, less-exposed rival. He was very game that day and a 3lbs rise may not be enough to stop him following up.
