16:15 Luscifer

The 3yo LUSCIFER won in good style over C&D last month and is taken to defy a 6lb rise and follow up. Runner-up River Sprite is 6lb better off for 3l but the main threat could come from Khaan. He has been absent since September 2019 but returns with trainer Mick Appleby in fine form and he likes it here.

16:45 Tipperary Tiger

Karl Burke’s TIPPERARY TIGER sets a very useful standard under a penalty for his impressive debut win at Doncaster last month and should be hard to beat if he can back that up on this switch to Fibresand. The main danger is another debut winner in Majestic Tejaan, who overcame trouble when forging clear over this trip at Newcastle 22 days ago. The other one on the shortlist is The Nail Gunner, who was only just caught over 1m on his handicap debut at Kempton and has each-way claims again back in a novice.

17:15 Birkenhead (NAP)

He finished in mid-division at Newcastle last time but BIRKENHEAD (nap) posted a career best when winning over C&D in October and is taken to make it 2-2 on Fibresand. Drakefell is also unexposed on this unique surface and is feared most, although Doc Sportello, Free Love and Mulzim are also feared in a competitive race.

17:45 Alpha Theta

Dublin Blue struggled on his handicap debut at Redcar but that was in gruelling conditions and he’s a key player here if he can recapture the form of his close fourth at Chepstow in September. Bumper winner Kayarnah is a half-sister to a 1m4f AW winner and looks interesting on her Flat debut, but preference is for the very well-bred newcomer ALPHA THETA, who represents a top yard with a good strike-rate with 3yos here this year.

18:15 Straitouttacompton

An open race in which the vote goes to STRAITOUTTACOMPTON, who is 2-2 over C&D and looks well treated if he can rediscover his spark on this return to Fibresand. Amadeus Grey is feared most, though Jump The Gun has run well on testing ground on turf in his last two starts and could be a big factor on his step up to this trip. Another to consider is Cesifire, who had an excuse in her bid for a double here last time and should have more to offer on this surface.

18:45 Lexi The One

Equidae is seriously respected after his latest C&D win, which has been franked by the second and third since. Liamba ran well on her first start for this yard but would be a smidgen more appealing at 6f so perhaps LEXI THE ONE will be able to complete her hat-trick. She’s taken very well to this surface and a 5lb rise for her latest C&D win shouldn’t be insurmountable.

19:15 Dark Side Prince

Most of these have plenty to prove but DARK SIDE PRINCE has run well over 5f here in his three runs for a new yard this autumn and he kept on well for third behind a resurgent rival last time. He looks a big player on his step back up in trip and gets the vote ahead of Sharrabang, who was knocking on the door over C&D last month and had an excuse in an experiment at 1m last Sunday. Another to consider is the well-handicapped Atyaaf, who showed signs of a revival at Newcastle and could be dangerous on his return to 6f.

19:45 Jazz Legend

The versatile Badger Berry didn’t shine in his bid for a double here 15 days ago but he still looks feasibly treated on his penultimate run and is respected on this drop back to 6f. Both First Excel and Magnificia have each-way claims, while the unexposed 3yo Quiteacatch looks a possible improver on her switch to sprinting. However, the vote goes to triple C&D winner JAZZ LEGEND, who has turned things around with his placed efforts here on his last two starts and remains well treated off 7lb lower than for his last win.
