Chef De Troupe was turned over at odds-on behind PARICOLOR at Leicester 11 days ago but the testing ground may have held him back and he meets his old rival on revised terms here. He’s a big player if he can get back near his best but there are risks attached, particularly if the forecast rain arrives, and it might be worth sticking with David Pipe’s generally progressive 4yo, who is on a roll after his back-to-back wins.

There should be more to come from ATHOLL STREET, who recorded a comfortable success over C&D on his hurdling debut. Grey Spirit is the main threat on form but also watch out for Heart Of A Lion, who still has potential based on his bumper win.
13:10 Boothill
Across The Line and Getaway Luv are leading players on hurdles form, while there was a step in the right direction from Duc De Bourbon here two weeks ago. However, they may have to settle for minor honours behind BOOTHILL who looks a useful prospect judged on his Kempton bumper success. Across The Line is second choice.
13:42 Conundrum
Passing Shadow, Admirals Bay (second choice) and recent Southwell principals Chapati and Manor Park are highly likely to be in the thick of things, but a chance is taken on CONUNDRUM. His hurdling career has yet to get off the ground, but his Flat ability needs respecting and these conditions won’t be so taxing as the soft ground he had to encounter on his handicap debut at Ffos Las.
14:15 Palmers Hill
An interesting race, not least due to the presence of the promising PALMERS HILL. Jonjo O’Neill’s gelding is probably on a decent mark given his potential to improve on his smart hurdling form and returning from an absence has proved no barrier to him producing his best in the past. No Hidden Charges could be the danger, though Storm Home won’t be far away with a trouble-free round and Finalshot has the making of a decent stayer.

14:47 When You’re Ready
The hat-trick seeking Mount Windsor could progress again over this longer trip and he’s a key player but there are some interesting and unexposed novices in opposition. Confirmation Bias is greatly respected on his handicap debut but this longer trip could prompt further progress from WHEN YOU’RE READY and he’s taken to build on his highly encouraging third at Leicester last month.
15:17 Glajou (NAP)
This is a stronger race than the one GLAJOU (nap) won at Southwell, but such was his superiority that day he looks well handicapped with a penalty. There’s more to come from this sizeable 4yo, and he’s preferred to Golden Taipan, who chased home another improving Nicholls novice at Wincanton. Go Long also has claims.
15:47 Cushuish
Although How’s The Cricket could improve for this step up in distance and Lakeside Lad can be given a chance following an improved effort last time, this may be fought out by Motts Cross and CUSHUISH. The first-named was just ahead of his rival when second over 2m5f following a long absence but the return to 3m should really suit the selection and she receives a narrow vote.
