Trappy, in so far as present effectiveness over 1m4f is assumed rather than proven for all of Fame N Fortune, Marion’s Boy, Bayston Hill and Imperial Square to varying degrees. Any of these could oblige if answering the stamina question, but as things stand a marginal vote of preference goes to PLEDGE OF PEACE, who laid down a fine marker over C&D on last month’s stable debut and is the lowest mileage competitor here.
I’m Available remains the best part of a stone below her career-high mark, despite a 3lb rise for her recent win, but she has seemed happiest round Kempton thus far. Buckingham is up to winning off this mark when a race falls his way but a losing run of 19 tempers enthusiasm and the unexposed HOVER gets the nod in a race that’s gone to a 3yo for the past two seasons (and six times in the past ten years). The well-handicapped Corazon Espinado is a danger.
No depth to this at all and the ideal chance for REVOLUTIONARY MAN (nap), who pulled hard when backed into favouritism over 1m here a fortnight ago, to add to his summer C&D win. Pour La Victoire, who’s bounced back to form since the cheekpieces returned, rates the main danger.
No inveterate front-runner in this line-up, but the versatile DANCING FEET has successfully made all over 7f on Polytrack before and it’s not hard to envisage her dictating matters successfully in an interesting but likely tactical affair. Queen’s Course needs more pace to aim at than she may get here and Aspiration is unproven on the surface, so it wouldn’t surprise too much were 2019 race winner Stay Classy to deny them minor honours.
Theoule’s Newcastle third early in the year hasn’t worked out but he’s open to improvement, while Quiet Evening is a likely looking newcomer for a yard that’s been in decent form lately. GALACTIC GLOW sets the standard back to novice company though, with him better than he was able to show in a handicap not run to suit on his AW debut three weeks ago. Former bumper filly Wait For The Lord will appreciate today’s stiffer test.

Having tumbled down the weights this year Kodiac Harbour showed much more back in cheekpieces over C&D last time and is an obvious starting point, but there are plenty with claims and a chance is taken on CITY ESCAPE at a likely bigger price. A rare Flat runner for Sarah Humphrey, she had no issues with this longer trip (she’s a half-sister to a 2m winner round here) on her first run since leaving Rae Guest 18 days ago and that was something to build on.
Happiest when allowed to dictate round switchback tracks, JUNOESQUE was said to have benefited from a change of routine at home, including being schooled over hurdles, after springing a shock here last time. Successful off a mark in the mid 60s last summer, she can defy a 2lb rise. Narjes will be happier back down to this trip, while Libbretta, who doesn’t have many miles on the clock for her age, is also worth considering.
Some inexperienced apprentices on show in a race in which a few are happiest on the sharp end. The cheekpieces have helped Black Medick, who’s closely matched with Luna Wish on revised terms, and the same could be said for GAVI DI GAVI, who hasn’t had much luck of late and will find this a bit easier.
