On last season’s form PURE GENIUS should be good enough to win a maiden hurdle of this standard and it may be worth giving him the benefit of the doubt following his failure to run to market expectations on his reappearance. The obvious dangers are Hamundarson and Fan Fan La Tulipe.

12:55 Cape Gentleman

This looks an ideal opportunity for the impressive Irish Cesarewitch winner CAPE GENTLEMAN to make a winning debut over hurdles. Homme D’Un Soir and Petibonome look the pick of the opposition.

13:25 Robinnia

A very open race on paper. A return to a longer trip and the addition of a hood could make all the difference for ROBINNIA. If sustaining the improvement shown at Clonmel last week Buck Rogers could go well in this stronger race. Farceur Du Large, bGevrey and Gabbys Cross are also worth considering.

14:00 Rocky’s Silver

ROCKY’S SILVER looks quite well-treated back over hurdles. So does Se Mo Laoch but the selection is race-fit. Lee Valley Legacy is another to note.

14:30 School Boy Hours

Slight preference is for SCHOOL BOY HOURS in an interesting rematch with Run Wild Fred, whom he mastered when they clashed in October. Despite a lack of chasing experience and a recent run Eklat De Rire could pose a major threat. The Big Dog is also of definite interest.

While he was no match for a very smart rival on his debut, STRANGER DANGER (nap) showed enough to suggest that he could win a race of this quality with normal progression and he can account for the returning Eurotiep plus the intriguing Recite A Prayer. Palace Storm is the most interesting debutant.
