Frank Hickey has named his top picks ahead of Sunday’s racing at Fairyhouse.

Speaking on the latest episode of Paddy Power’s twice-weekly From The Horse’s Mouth podcast, the expert tipster is expecting Envoi Allen and Ballyadam to dominate but has found value elsewhere on the card.

1.05pm – Cask Mate (without Ballyadam)

I think this is a very good race, and Ballyadam is nearly favourite for the Supreme at the moment so it will be interesting to see how he goes. He was very impressive up at Down Royal, but I still haven’t forgiven him for fluffing his lines on bumper debut. I was one of those who got involved at ante-post for the Champion Bumper and then he disappointed at Navan and didn’t go, but he does look to have huge amounts of ability. He’s odds-on so I wouldn’t be overly keen to back him at that price.

I would have a look at the without market though, and would maybe have a small bet on CASK MATE. If he was coming in with a profile without the three-year absence, he would be even shorter than what he is. If you go back to his form in 2017, he was beaten a length and a half by Felix Desjy in a bumper, beaten three lengths by Us And Them in a maiden hurdle at Cork and was off then from December 2017 to this October.

He was very impressive at Limerick, albeit is wasn’t the strongest race in the world, while I thought he was very, very impressive at Punchestown the last day over 2m5f. He was getting a chunk of weight off Dewcup – maybe 10lbs – but he beat him by 10 lengths and could have beaten him by any length he wanted. It was extremely impressive and if he was coming in her as a five-year-old, he would be an even shorter price. He’ll give Ballyadam a run – he might not be good enough but I’m looking forward to seeing the race.

Fairyhouse

1.35pm – Envoi Allen

I don’t think we’re going to learn too much more about ENVOI ALLEN here, as it’s a disappointing field. This might be a theme as the season goes on with trainers and owners trying to avoid him as best as possible. Barring accidents, it’s difficult to see how he gets beaten.

I think his route will be Limerick, then the Ffos Las race at the Dublin Racing Festival followed by the Marsh Chase.

2.05pm – Mon Lino

Nothing is standing out for me but I would probably take a chance with MON LINO down at the bottom of the weights. He was second in the race last year off a mark of 123, beaten by just under two lengths. He ran a lovely race over hurdles last time at Clonmel over 3m and was beaten by a half length off a mark of 122. On his last chase start he was third in the Leinster National, beaten by under four lengths off 125.

He runs here off a mark of 126 and he’s still only eight so he could still be improving. I think he could be a decent double figure price and I will probably have a few bob each-way on him.

2.35pm – Honeysuckle

It’s very difficult to see how HONEYSUCKLE gets beaten, getting weight off all the other with the mare’s allowance. She wouldn’t be a betting proposition for me, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to be opposing her.
