12:15 Stolen Silver

Point winner Port Of Mars showed some useful form during his three-race hurdling career and Olly Murphy is evidently very keen to switch him to fences, but Grade 2 hurdle winner STOLEN SILVER will be a very tough nut to crack if somewhere near the level of form he showed in a Newton Abbot novice chase last month.

12:47 Twotwothree (NAP)

C&D winner TWOTWOTHREE (nap) posted a sound effort when fourth in a race won by a very progressive rival here on his seasonal debut in September and appeals most. Second choice is triple French chase winner Caboy, who showed enough here 17 days ago to suggest he can strike in Britain soon. Last-time-out winner Rizzardo should also feature.

13:22 Checkitout

Low-mileage 6yo CHECKITOUT was in front when falling at the first in the home straight at Ludlow 16 days ago, and the form of his chase-debut fifth at Uttoxeter in October has worked out very well. He’s not yet proven on ground slower than good to soft but he gets the nod here. Un Prophete ran well this month after a long absence but he’s not very reliable and Haul Us In may provide a bigger threat to the selection.

13:57 Guard Your Dreams

Here Comes Johny is 2-2 over hurdles and can’t be opposed with any confidence but he has to concede 7lb to C&D winner GUARD YOUR DREAMS, who might be the answer. Nigel Twiston-Davies’ 4yo was beaten over 17l when favourite here on his latest start but, given the subsequent exploits of the first two in that race, he wasn’t discredited.

14:32 Pennyforapound

Took The Lot kept on strongly for a clearcut C&D win 17 days ago but he was allowed to boss that race from the front and, with the warm favourite seemingly below par, the value of that form is open to question. Preference is for dual Irish point winner PENNYFORAPOUND, who travelled well for a long way in a useful Wetherby novice hurdle on last month’s rules debut and ought to build on that performance. Fairly useful chaser Hills Of Dubai reverts to hurdling after a layoff but also warrants consideration.

The Butcher Said Bangor-On-Dee September 29, 2020

15:07 Milanvera

Quiet Penny signed off for her former stable with a wide-margin win in spring 2019 and has scope for further improvement if fully tuned up on her debut for Jamie Snowden but the pick is MILANVERA, who shaped with promise over 2m5f on her seasonal debut and now moves up in trip. Tipalong Tyler has raced rather lazily on both starts since her Warwick win in September but was placed in a stronger contest than this at Exeter this month and is next on the list.

15:42 Time To Follow

Flann showed some ability on his recent debut but that form doesn’t set a daunting standard and the suggestion is TIME TO FOLLOW, who is a half-brother to one of last season’s smart novice hurdlers. Irish Lion and Macfin are other newcomers with good credentials.
