18:45 Album (NAP)

ALBUM defied market weakness to get off the mark at Windsor last month, showing improved form back sprinting and coping well with the testing conditions as he stayed on to lead in the final half furlong. He couldn’t build on that win over this course and distance last time, but he shaped as if still in good form.

He travelled well before being headed over a furlong out, left behind by the winner soon after. There is every chance that he just went a little too hard on that occasion, and from just 2lbs higher than the mark he won from two starts back, he gets the vote to bounce back to winning ways.

17:45 Rum Runner (Next Best)

Having his first run on the all-weather for almost two years at Newcastle last month, RUM RUNNER wasted no time getting back to form. He was shaken up a furlong out and, after getting his head in front inside the final furlong, drew clear to win comfortably. He hasn’t been in quite the same form since, but he hasn’t really been seen to best effect either.

He was not helped by a steady gallop when eighth at the same venue earlier this month and wasting too much energy early on when fourth last time out. He remains relatively unexposed on this surface however, and his claims are as solid as any.

19:15 Jorvik Prince (Each-Way)

JORVIK PRINCE has a good record over this course and distance, a three-time winner under these conditions, including on his debut for Michael Appleby’s stable at the turn of the year. He hasn’t been seen in the winners’ enclosure since February, but he did enough to confirm his return to form when runner-up over this track and trip in September.

He just ran into one at the top of her game at the time. He was below form when eighth at Musselburgh last time, but he is best not judged on that run given the very soft ground. This return to the all-weather should show him to much better effect.

Chelmsford City tips summary:

17:45 Rum Runner
18:45 Album
19:15 Jorvik Prince
