Matthew Smith has a major chance of doubling up here with Punters Poet but preference is for ROYAL RED PERSIAN (nap), who came from a fair bit back when a recent C&D fourth in what appeared a stronger race for this grade. Sweet Affection should go well from a favourable draw.

Second in a similar contest last month, ANGEL PALANAS can make a winning start for his new trainer. Drawn high, his main threats are drawn just inside of him, namely Boitron and Able Jack, both likely to be suited by this trip.

Moderate stuff. IRISH AMBASSADOR looks pretty much as feasible as anything in the headgear under the champion apprentice.

Bettors are strongly advised to factor in the reserve, Jack Berry House, in their wagering considerations here. LATCHET makes plenty of appeal, Philly’s Hope interesting at the prices now tackling Dundalk.

Golden Lyric ran a bit of a shocker at Naas after looking so promising on her debut at Cork, but the ground was probably the key factor and she remains a big threat. MESSIDOR is in a similar boat. A close second on her debut, she was turned over when odds-on at Down Royal in the interim, but she is another one probably far more at home on a sounder surface. She gets 7f well and could well be the one to beat. The newcomer Pell Mell is also feared.
17:10 Brokers Tip
Darren Bunyan holds a strong hand here with Dreams Delivered and BROKERS TIP, the latter of whom is preferred on the back of a good recent C&D run off the same mark, despite being keen. The less exposed Vazzy looks a likely improver, though the drop in trip may not be ideal.
17:40 Iontach
An open affair, but with the run under her belt, IONTACH could well improve past those in front of her the last day, namely Ola Bonita and Grey Streak. Stalingrad has hit the crossbar on two of his last three starts, including over C&D on latest, and the tongue-tie won’t need to improve him a whole lot. The potential dark one could be Prima Vega and she is one of the more interesting ones going forward.
