Horse Racing tips: Frank Hickey’s Thursday 4 to soar across the tracks

Three tracks. Four picks. What's not to love?

Wincanton 13.10 – Belle De Manech

Belle De Manech was quite impressive when getting off the mark on her bumper debut at Warwick last November when beating Coquelicot, who went on to win a listed bumper at Kempton. She failed to reach that level in three subsequent runs but two of those were at listed level.

She makes her hurdles debut in a fair race where Docte Dina and Little River Bay have useful form in the book but with the Anthony Honeyball yard continuing to be in great form, she can make a winning hurdles debut.

Thurles 12.50 – Sams Profile

This is a very decent beginners chase with Lord Royal a fascinating addition to the chasing ranks and he is likely to dominate the market. I am going to take him on with Sams Profile who returns from a 566 day absence. When last seen he was just touched off in a Grade 1 novice hurdle at the Punchestown festival where he had the likes of Tornado Flyer, City Island and Easy Game behind him.

Earlier in the season he was second in a Grade 1 at Naas behind Battleoverdoyen and had beaten Éclair De Beaufeu in his maiden hurdle. A point winner, where he beat Diol Ker who is now rated 143 over hurdles, there is every chance that fences may even see Sam’s Profile improve again. His trainer Mouse Morris has had seven winners already this season, after having just four all last season.

Sams Profile could take him to all the major festivals this spring.

Wincanton 15.12 – Scardura

Scardura has loads of ability but her recent form has been plagued by some sketchy jumping but she did jump well when 2nd at Stratford and when winning at Newton Abbot off a mark of 127.

He did unseat at both Perth and last time in a very strong Cheltenham handicap but it is significant that he was a 9/2 shot in such a strong handicap, suggesting that connections consider his revised mark of 134 workable.

This is a very useful handicap in it’s own right but it is definitely a touch easier than that Cheltenham race and if he can get into a rhythm with his jumping, he could be the solution to this race.

Market Rasen 14.03 – Muckamore

Muckamore was an impressive winner of a point this time last year and wasn’t disgraced when 2nd on his first two starts over hurdles, behind the now 140 Imperial Alcazar and 127 rated Southfield Harvest. He got off the mark when last seen at Taunton when an easy winner when a short price and now starts off in handicaps over fences off what could be a very fair mark of 125.

Another positive is that his trainer, Nigel Twiston-Davies is having plenty run well now and Muckamore looks sure to go well.
