Silent Encore certainly deserves to win a race but he may again come up short, with chase debutant HANG TOUGH fancied to deny him this time. Don Herbager has plenty to prove but cannot be ruled out if there is any market support for him.

The handicapper has given a chance to several of these, including O’Rahilly and Finisher, but they are reappearing from lengthy breaks, as is Samtara. With proven fitness on his side, preference is for MOUNT WINDSOR (nap) who was only narrowly denied last month. Any market support for either of the Gary Moore duo Imphal and Darkest Day would be interesting.

Very testing ground would be a worry for Findusatgorcombe, while last year’s winner Kingston Mimosa and Sky Full Of Stars, two of the likelier form candidates, lack recent match practice. Colonel Keating is still capable of better but MUILEAN NA MADOG may be up to defying his long absence for a yard that’s enjoyed plenty of success with similar types in the past. Avoir De Soins isn’t without risk but he’s surely capable of better than we’ve seen so far too.
