A winner over hurdles last season, GEORGE RIDSDALE has proved himself an improved model since being returned to the Flat this campaign. He followed up his reappearance win over this course and distance with victory at Ayr in September, having no problem with the drop back in trip as he went in under a penalty.
Quickly turned out again, he failed to land the hat-trick under a double penalty at the same venue two days on, but he resumed winning ways in good style back over this course and distance last month, taking his tally to three wins from four for the season. He has an 8lbs rise to contend with, but given the ease with which he won last time, another bold showing should be very much on the cards.
The Newmarket maiden that CONSERVATOIRE finished sixth in back in September has since proved strong form. Three others from that race having come out and won since, including Oh So Sharp Stakes winner Saffron Beach and William Haggas’ filly duly did her bit for the form when getting off the mark at Goodwood last month, showing much improved form to run out a comfortable winner.
She didn’t need to improve on that performance to double her tally at Doncaster last time, following up in gutsy fashion. With further progress anticipated, she looks well placed to bring up the hat-trick.
PACINO found himself short of room just as he was beginning to make his move at Musselburgh two starts back, unable to quicken thereafter and finishing sixth. He again wasn’t seen to best effect over this course and distance last time, hampered after 2 furlongs out and again denied a clear passage on the run for home. His losing run is mounting up, but he is almost certainly still in good form and is a long way below his last winning mark, so is dangerous to write off.
