ART COLLECTOR was last seen out in the Preakness Stakes when beaten by the superstar Swiss Skydiver. He takes a significant drop down in distance and has been handed the perfect rail position in stall 1, to attack from. Some of these will be struggling when they enter the final furlong, but this three-year-old is guaranteed to run through the line very strongly and that can prove the deciding factor in this war on the dirt.
TEREBELLUM set off this season with a comfortable Group Two victory and then went down fighting in the Queen Anne Stakes at the Royal meeting just behind Circus Maximus in a real head-bob finish.
She looked all set for success when having an easy lead at Newmarket in the Falmouth Stakes but obviously all was not well and she folded tamely, as she did at Newmarket on the Rowley mile course after a break. She gets the medication for this race and is a big price if the Lasix has the desired effect.
The English 2000 Guineas winner KAMEKO was asked to do the impossible when running in the Epsom Derby but bounced back after an unlucky Goodwood defeat, with a remarkable weight-carrying performance at Newmarket to beat a well- weighted Benbatl. He is still training like a champion and has been bucking and kicking and all over the place in the mornings at Keeneland.
He thrives on his racing and can round off his career with another success at the highest level before going off to stud.
SWISS SKYDIVER has proven herself to be a top-notch superstar with a host of top performances in all of the best races, rounding off last time with a tremendously gutsy victory in the Preakness Stakes, beating Authentic, who is fancied for the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
She’s going to be short in the market for a reason and that is mainly because you cannot pigeon-hole her as a one-dimensional runner. She seems to adapt regardless of whether she goes up on the front-end or takes a little bit of a more patient approach.
Dermot Weld’s filly TARNAWA has been nothing short of spectacular when winning at Longchamp in both the Prix-Vermeille & the Prix De L’Opera. She looks just the type that her handler is bringing to concert pitch at the right time, having swerved the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe to stay against the fillies for easier pickings last time. Looks to be one of the strongest European raiders in the States for the two-day spectacular.
The mighty TIZ THE LAW won the Grade 1 Florida Derby, Belmont Stakes and Travers Stales prior to just coming unstuck in the Kentucky Derby, on only his second try over 1m 2f. A troubled run where he was forced to make his challenge six wide around the home turn, he was nearly in the car park before he got going properly in the straight. Given slightly more luck this time from a better starting point, he’s going to be hard to beat.
