Beat the Drop Rules

Beat the Drop is a predictor game that requires players to split their prize pot between two possible answers for every question they encounter. You take the cash you placed on the winning answer through to the next question.

There are 15 questions in total and players who play Beat the Drop for free start with a maximum pot of £5,000.

You can decide to split your pot however you like on each question. You could go all-in on the first question and win, in which case you’d carry £5,000 through to your second question. In theory you could do this all the way thorough and win the full £5,000. However, generally the pot whittles down as you progress because you cover both outcomes with your answers.

The game ends when you answer the 15th question and have money left over, or when you run out of money.

It’s possible to pay to play Beat the Drop and reduce your number of questions, while boosting your potential winnings.

Beat the Drop Example

Here’s an example of Paddy Power Beat the Drop in action. You start a new game with £5,000 in your pot and choose to play on a football question. In this example, you need to decide whether both teams will score in a match between Rotherham and Leeds.

You think that’s unlikely but don’t want to go all-in on No. Therefore, you push £4,600 on No and leave £400 on Yes.

You can use the gauge in the middle to change your decision and move your money around. Just make sure you make the final call before the game.

In the end, Rotherham and Leeds drew 1-1. You therefore took just £400 through to Question 2. Ooops!
