Third-round action of the English Derby this Saturday night, and here are eight selections that can go well.
18:35 Heat 1 – The Other Kobe (NAP)
My first selection is the Irish Derby Champion THE OTHER KOBE (NAP) who, if he traps in front, stays in front and has been paw-perfect so far this season.
18:51 Heat 2 – Boylesports Bob
This one is wide open but I’m going with BOYLESPORTS BOB who was slightly unlucky last week. He will have to do it the hard way and come from behind, but if he gets the gaps on the far side he can stay on strong.
19:10 Heat 3 – Bockos Thunder (NB)
This is another wide-open heat, but I’m going for BOCKOS THUNDER (NB) in trap 3. She’s my next best bet of the lineup after dipping under the 29-second mark last time. She’ll go well in this heat if she repeats that.
19:29 Heat 4 – Superfast Gordon
SUPERFAST GORDON has buckets of early speed, but showed last week that he can do it the hard way and come from behind so if he starts well he stays and the Pat Buckley-trained dog is my pick in this heat.
19:47 Heat 5 – Ballymac Gizmo
BALLYMAC GIZMO is yet to click at Towcester but has been turning out some good performances and could turn over the short-priced favourite Antigua Hawk.
20:05 Heat 6 – Crafty Shivoo
CRAFTY SHIVOO is drawn on the fence and will go well if she utilises that inside line.
20:22 Heat 7 – Swords Rex
I’m with the old boy SWORDS REX in what could be the heat of death. He has tough opposition in King Memphis and Ballinabola Ed to overcome, but I support him.
20:40 Heat 8 – Ballymac Slick
BALLYMAC SLICK is well drawn in trap 5, has buckets of early speed, and has been running well. He will have enough early in the race to lead on.
