NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

18:04 – Towcester

Darrell: I think it’s been quite difficult to get an angle on a lot of these Derby trials but I think this is a pretty obvious one. Chelms Fred is getting better coming out of the boxes, he’s getting out, he’s getting a start. There is a bit of pace inside but he should be able to get a lead and if he does he’ll take a lot of stopping. He’s a real track specialist around here and is 6 from 8. He’s my NAP.

Aoife: My first selection is Chelms Fred who has been ultra-consistent, winning his last two races over C&D. He has plenty of early speed and, if trapping like he has done in recent starts, he’ll be hard passed and will try to make all.

Trap 6 Sporting Chile had broken the track record previously so if he gets back to that form he would have a big say, but I think this race will be won at traps. If he breaks smartly, I think Chelms Fred should win.

18:20 – Towcester

DARRELL: It’s wide open. I think, maybe at a bit of a price, Amaze Me Seb might run well. He’s showed lovely back-straight pace and he’s got a good record when you look at what he’s done before here. He’s probably the strongest of these, a lot of these want to be close to the pace so I’ll take a bit of a chance with Amaze Me Seb.

AOFIE: Spinosauras was out of luck when finishing third after finding trouble in running last time. He can be a little hit and miss at trap rise but I think if he can put his best paw forward he can get back to winning ways.

19:48

DARRELL: Signet Goofy has got stronger and stronger as this competition has gone on and logic suggest he may win again but I was taken by Romeo Magico the other day. I’ve underestimated this greyhound the whole way through. He’s progressing nicely through the event and I thought he showed lovely pace in the quarter finals. I’ll take Magico to beat Goofy!

AOFIE: I’m going to side with Signet Goofy who is the only unbeaten runner left in the derby. He has been flashing from traps and making all in recent weeks, albeit limited on the clock. He should have a say if he leads.

Romeo Magcio is the fastest in the race and is well drawn so will have a chance along with Faughan Rebel who will be flying home from halfway, but I think if Signet Goofy can trap in front he could possibly hang on at the end.

20:05 – Towcester

DARRELL: I’d love to see Kildare win but he was a little bit disappointing for me last time, I can see him qualifying. I think the value is with Hello Hammond on the inside. I’ve been a fan of this dog for a while and wish I was brave enough to tip him earlier! He’s run really well in two or three rounds and he’s got a really nice make up. He’s a strong dog, he’ll keep on battling and I think he’s over priced.

AOFIE: Kildare has mixed form so far but I feel he is well drawn towards the inside and I think he should lead around the opening bend. Paul Hennessy’s duo of Hello Hammond and track record holder Priceless Jet won’t be caught if they lead early and both stay very strong. But I expect the track to be flying and if Kildare can ping the lids he will be the one they need to beat.
