Greyhound Racing Tips: Drive for 5 with Naples Fort Myers' Thursday picks

Race two on the card at 6:16pm is a Maiden contest. With a total of 54 races run between the eight runners there are still no wins. The best-rated dog in this poor race is trap five’s Superior Aladdin. He is rated 80 after two solid placed efforts from five runs. He was second last time out and beaten by less than a length when nearly getting up close home, so, as others weaken, this lad will be staying on strong and finally break the maiden tag.

The fourth race at 6:48 is a grade B contest, and I think the ‘Slatex’ prefix could dominate this race with two runners in the race, Trap six’s Slatex Gemini won a grade C race two starts ago and was placed in this grade last time out while always gaining ground, so getting some luck down the far side could nab this close home.

The eighth race at 7:52 is a grade B with three in the race having won on their last time out, but all in grade C action. Trap eight’s CTW Smores To Go has had nine lifetime career starts, winning two, finishing second four times and 3rd 2 times so has only been out of the frame on one occasion, obviously this a tougher grade but running at the top of his game, starts and stays and certainly could win again and gets the Nap vote from me.

The tenth race is the best of the meeting with it being a Grade A due off at 8:24pm, and experience should play a major part in this race. Trap three, JD Ghost in You, dressed in the white has 30 starts here at Naples Fort and 68 overall. His last couple of starts been far from impressive but on old form he would be there or thereabouts so he can recapture it and be in with a shout.

The twelfth race from here is due off at 8;56pm. It’s a Class C contest and wouldn’t be the strongest field, though trap one’s L Steele won a Grade D last time out, has competed in grade C before, finishing 4th in a couple of starts. A confidence-boosting victory last time out could see him go in again.
