Abu Dhabi Championship

Bernd Wiesberger to win (Each-Way)

With a couple of Rolex Series titles to his name – each in 2019 – Bernd Wiesberger is no stranger to a significant triumph in a strong field. The Austrian is without a win in over three years, but trips to the Middle East have been fruitful for him in his career, and this looks like a good spot for the 39-year-old to post a positive result.

The Abu Dhabi Golf Club hosted this tournament until 2022, and Wiesberger came within touching distance of victory on multiple occasions there, most notably with top 10 berths in 2015, 2017, and 2020. He would not have been far off in the maiden event at Yas Links either, were it not for a Friday 77 in treacherous conditions.

Short game has proved a pivotal category at each of the renewals at this venue, with Victor Perez putting lights out in 2023, a year on from Thomas Pieters’ scrambling masterclass. Wiesberger ranks fourth around the greens on the DP World Tour this season and can make full use of those abilities to contend in Abu Dhabi.

Daniel Brown Top English

A third-place finish at the Andalucia Masters was no fluke for Daniel Brown, who was fourth at the Irish Open five weeks prior. Let’s not forget, Brown also led the Open Championship after the first round at Royal Troon and was within a shot of the lead after 54 holes.

It’s a surprise that oddsmakers continue to price him so far down the betting board. There is a boom or bust nature to Brown – his best finish in the three events in between the two aforementioned top fives was a T54 – but the upside could be shown at Yas Links which has similarities to the courses he’s succeeded at.

Rather than backing him to win the tournament, we can reduce the field to just the 16 Englishmen taking part and still get a hefty price.

World Wide Technology Championship

Jacob Bridgeman to win (Each-Way)

He has had to be patient in his rookie year on the PGA Tour, but persistence has paid off for Jacob Bridgeman, who found a level of consistency that sees him positioned 118th in the FedEx Cup Fall Standings – just inside the top 125 – and in line for a 2025 Tour Card.

It wasn’t an easy summer for the Clemson graduate, but having participated in five events in six weeks beginning with the John Deere Classic, he played himself into form, ending that stretch with back-to-back top 20s.

Bridgeman briefly lost rhythm after a month-long break heading into the Procore Championship, where he didn’t play the weekend, but a T11 at Sanderson Farms got things back on track and he made his two subsequent cuts, gaining strokes on approach in the process.

Iron play is the key to success at El Cardonal, and Bridgeman’s short game will stand him in good stead, as he eyes a first PGA Tour trophy.

Wesley Bryan Top 20 Finish (Inc. Ties)

One of the many players on the outside looking in as the tee off in Mexico is Wesley Bryan, who needs to climb 13 places to secure a Tour Card.

That sense of urgency seems to getting the best out of him, who after 10 weeks without a finish better than T67, has gone 21-37-13 in his last three outings.

There have been no areas of weakness in his game across those three competitions. After gaining strokes in all key departments at both the Black Desert Championship and Sanderson Farms Championship, there’s a solid base to build from as he heads south of the border.
