Open De France

Rasmus Hojgaard to win

Having come close to victory in his two previous visits to Le Golf National, Rasmus Hojgaard looks well-equipped to make it third time lucky this week.

The Dane shot a 62 in his first competitive round at the oldest professional national open in Continental Europe despite only finding 50 per cent of fairways. He wasn’t remarkably accurate on the Friday in 2022 either, but he found the greens and made plenty of putts.

He would have won the title if it had not been for a quintuple bogey on the par-3 second hole on Saturday. Instead, he fell one stroke short of Guido Migliozzi.

Remarkably, Hojgaard also had an eight on his card in the third round in 2023, this time on the par-4 15th. He had to settle for fourth place when it could have been more.

It’s pretty simple – if the 23-year-old avoids fatal errors, he should be in the mix to add to his Irish Open triumph from last month.

14/1
Rasmus Højgaard Winner

Andy Sullivan Top 20 (Incl. Ties)

Being straight off the tee has been hugely beneficial at Le Golf National. Andy Sullivan has stepped up massively in that department, as he sits seventh in the DP World Tour’s driving accuracy rankings for 2024.

The Brit was outside the top 50 regarding fairways hit last year, but he still managed to post a T16 finish at the French Open. He withdrew mid-tournament in 2022, but his course form before that reads 23-21-13-5-6-26.

Always in and around the top 20 here, Sullivan can utilise his new-found accuracy to significant effect and compete towards the top of the leaderboard in Paris.

2/1
Andy Sullivan Top 20 Finish (Incl. Ties)

Black Desert Championship

Seamus Power to win (each-way)

Currently well-placed in his quest to come in the top 60 on the FedExCup Fall Points List and qualify for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational, Seamus Power will be looking not only to consolidate that position, but he will also believe now is his chance to notch his first PGA Tour win since 2022.

With no course form to go off at the Black Desert Championship, I’d like to side with those who have shown consistency lately, and Power, who has made eight consecutive cuts, fits the bill.

He tends to play well on the West Coast and shot four rounds in the 60s at the Sanderson Farms Championship last week, ending in a tie for 11th place.

20/1
Seamus Power Winner

Andrew Novak to win (each-way)

The Sanderson Farms Championship was Andrew Novak’s first appearance since the Wyndham Championship in early August. Having taken a break and had a tune-up event, I believe this tournament in Utah is an excellent opportunity for the American to get some critical FedExCup Fall points on the board.

Regarding field strength, Novak’s best-ever finish on the PGA Tour came in Phoenix in February, and he came in a tie for eighth. He ranks in the top 20 overall for strokes gained on approach this year, and if he brings his exemplary ball-striking to Ivins, he could be in for another impressive desert showing.

28/1
Andrew Novak Winner
