The Open Championship 2024 is here as the world’s best golfers head to Scotland for the final major of the year.
It’s the highlight of the golfing calendar in Europe, with it being the only major event not to take place in North America. The venue is rotated between a group of coastal links courses throughout the UK and this year it’s the turn of Royal Troon in Ayrshire.
The first three majors have provided drama with Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau winning the Masters, The PGA Championship and The US Open respectively.
Rory McIlroy is Europe’s best hope and the Irishman will be looking to bounce back from his heartbreaking second-place finish at the US Open. It’s been exactly a decade since he won his first and only Claret Jug so it’s the perfect opportunity to break his losing streak.
Brian Harman is the reigning champion having won at Royal Liverpool last year in what was his first major career victory, however, he’s unlikely to be in the mix this time.
