Who are the favourites to win the US Open? Paddy Power odds for 2024 Pinehurst golf Major

Who's the favourite heading to Pinehurst?

US Open 2024

Paddy’s looking forward to the third major of the golf season and the final one in North America as the US Open heads to Pinehurst for 2024.

The PGA Championship offered drama with Xander Schauffele emerging victorious at Valhalla, winning his first major title, although the tournament was overshadowed by Scottie Scheffler’s shock arrest.

Schauffele heads to North Carolina as one of the favourites, but will face tough competition from Masters winner Scheffler and Rory McIlroy among others. Last year’s US Open champion Wyndham Clark is seen as an outsider so isn’t expected to retain.

You can find all the US Open odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise, here’s everything you need to know about all the favourites.

US Open

Scottie Scheffler

Despite finishing tied for eighth at Valhalla, with fair reason considering what was happening off the course, Scheffler is still very much seen as the one to beat this season. His stellar victory at Augusta in April was followed up by a big signature event win at the RBC Heritage.

He’s the favourite here and the rest of the field will be looking to him as the benchmark early on.

Xander Schauffele

Off the back of an impressive major win a few weeks ago, Schauffele will be full of confidence.

He’s second favourite for a reason, but he’s not a serial major winner, with his highest finish in the US Open being a third place in 2019.

Rory McIlroy

Most golf fans want Rory to win another major, and whilst the Masters is the one missing from his collection, he can still add to his sole US Open victory from back in 2011.

The Northern Irishman finished one shot off winner Clark at last year’s event and will be hoping for success this time.

Collin Morikawa

The world number seven, Collin Morikawa, is hitting form at the right time for a potential title charge at Pinehurst after placing second at the Memorial Tournament and fourth at the Charles Schwab Challenge in recent weeks.

The 27-year-old is a two-time Major champion after landing the 2020 PGA Championship and The Open in 2021 so he has a knack for getting the job done at the highest level.

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg has risen to sixth in the world rankings and was narrowly denied the title at the Masters earlier in the year.

The rising star has not won a title in the current calendar year but has the talent to contend for the top prize at Pinehurst.

Viktor Hovland

Another European hopeful is Viktor Hovland, who impressed at Valhalla finishing just three shots off the lead.

He is yet to win a major title, with his best performance a US Open fourth-placed finish in 2022.
