With our main outright bets all locked in place for the PGA Championship it is now time to take a look at the different specialty markets available and as always Paddy have done us proud pricing up a wide raft of options for us to choose from. So let’s start off by taking a look at the First Round Leader.
First Round Leader – Tommy Fleetwood
While little in the way of wind forecast across the day it is the afternooon wave who appeal to me. The early starters will face cooler conditions that will make scoring tougher on a long track. The first man who jumps out at me is Tommy Fleetwood who heads out at 1.25pm local time.
Fleetwood has been a tough man to follow over the years Stateside as he is yet to notch a victory on the PGA Tour. Of late, however, his game is trending strongly in the right direction with his stats for the season showing him ranked in the top ten both from tee to green and around the greens, two key areas for this week.
No doubt the Englishman has had his struggles on a Sunday however having jumped out of the gates with a 65 last time out at Quail Hollow on his way to fifth place he looks primed for another strong week here and I am happy to side with him to start quickly again.
First Round Leader – Stephan Jaeger
Stephan Jaeger gets underway at 1.53pm local time from the tenth tee. Jaeger has been something of a yoyo player over the years, a prolific winner on the Korn Ferry Tour but unable to settle on the PGA Tour.
Over the last year though this has changed and the German has started to produce some really eye catching efforts of late. The possessor of a great touch around the greens, Jaeger posted two top 15 finishes on Donald Ross layouts last year. Eighth on tour in round one scoring Jaeger closed with a 63 on Sunday in Texas giving us enough encouragement to risk him for a fast start here.

Top Former Winner – Keegan Bradley
The next market to catch my eye is the one of Top Former Winner and Keegan Bradley looks a play at around 14/1 pre tournament. In my main preview you swill see I am keen on the chances of Brooks Koepka chances of winning outright, but with three each way places on offer I am happy to risk Bradley at the odds.
We can still make a profit if Koepka performs as hoped.
Bradley has had a really strong season with a win and three top 10’s to his name and with one eye on a Ryder Cup berth, Bradley will be looking to keep his foot on the gas. The 2011 PGA Champion attended college in New York so should enjoy plenty of support this week, while a strong week at Quail Hollow last time out after returning from a break showed his game is still in good shape.
Of those ahead of him in the betting there are big question marks over the form of Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa, while Justin Thomas has also been stuttering somewhat of late and I am happy to take them on with Bradley.
Top Senior – Padraig Harrington
I will take Padraig Harrington at around 15/8 against the favourite here, Phil Mickelson. Big Phil shocked the golfing world to win this event two years ago at 50, but his price here is very much driven by his recent strong Masters effort.
Aside from that performance though, on a track we know he loves, there has been little to get excited about in Mickelson’s form of late and 45th out of 48 in Tulsa last week on the LIV Tour hardly gets the juices flowing. Harrington continues to produce the goods week in week out on the Seniors Tour while his tenth on the PGA Tour in Texas in April showed he can still mix it in the big league.
Third favourite Steven Alker is in fine form on the Seniors however he has not played on the PGA Tour for several years so this really does look a toss-up between the two big names and Harrington is the one for me.
Top 30 Finish – Taylor Moore
Taylor Moore won at the Valspar in March is enjoying a break out season on the PGA Tour and his strong all round game looks well suited to Majors.
Two top six finishes on Donald Ross tracks last year give plenty of cause for hope that this will be a course to his liking and with six top 30 finishes to his name in 11 starts already this year I’ll take him to add another this week.
