RBC Heritage Betting Tips

Collin Morikawa to Win
Matt Kuchar to Win (each-way)
J.T. Poston to Win (each-way)

After the trials and tribulations of an eventful week in Augusta, it’s back to business this week for the PGA Tour as it makes the short trip to the coast of South Carolina to take on the Harbour Town Golf Links. For an event that comes straight after the biggest golf tournament of the year, the RBC Heritage is packed with an elite field of the world’s best.

The course at Hilton Head Island provides a different challenge to that of Augusta National. The fairways are tighter and the greens are smaller leaving little room for error. It’s a track that appeals to the straighter drivers and better iron players. Power and distance aren’t prerequisites here and the list of previous winners will show you that. The ability to scramble well will also be a huge advantage going into this event. With all this in mind, here are our picks going into this weekend.

Collin Morikawa

The two-time major winner had a strong showing at the Masters last weekend finishing in the top ten and playing good golf in all aspects of his game. Morikawa gained strokes in all four major categories and I feel is set for a big weekend.

As mentioned the tight fairways and small greens will require a good driver and an even better iron player and Collin is both. He ranks 2nd in both driving accuracy and shots gained on the approach to the green. This is a course that suits Morikawa’s game and I see him having a very good week.

Matt Kuchar (each-way)

Kuch has seen a real improvement in his game in the last few months. With a strong showing at the WGC Matchplay being followed up with a 3rd place finish at the Valero Texas Open the PGA tour veteran is set to have a good showing at Harbour Town. He also boasts a very impressive record around this course, having four top-5 finishes including winning the event in 2014. Add in the fact he’s number 1 in scrambling this year, all signs point to us hearing a lot of Kuch chants come Sunday evening.

J.T. Poston (each-way)

As a resident of these parts and growing up in North Carolina, JT has spent his whole life playing courses like this. He’s really seen an emergence in form this year and that’s been backed results wise too. After performing well in the Masters, he comes into a tournament he knows very well. Poston has had three top-10 finishes in four showings in Harbour Town. JT’s course average here in Harbour Town is 68.29, the highest among all entrants this week. I feel he could be a very appealing option for an each way bet.
