Masters tips: Why Max Homa win would be a nightmare for our golf traders

PPTV’s Justin Kenny says the traders are against Max Homa.

Max Homa

The first golf major of the season is finally here. We’ve got four cracking days of action at Augusta for The Masters 2023.

Will Scottie Scheffler make it back-to-back wins or is the green jacket going elsewhere? Maybe it’s time for Rory McIlroy to turn it on?

We’ve got PPTV’s Justin Kenny on hand to discuss what would be a bad result for our traders at The Masters.

Who is our biggest loser?

Max Homa is by far despite his poor record at Augusta. He’s a six-time winner on the PGA Tour but he hasn’t finished better than 48th (2022) in the Masters and in fact, he’s yet to finish in the top ten in a Major.

But despite all of that, punters seem to think his luck in Majors is about to change.

After Homa, Tiger Woods is the next worst result in the book.

It would be another fairytale triumph if he could win the Masters for a sixth time, getting him up to 16 Majors in total, and some punters are already dreaming that this could very well happen.

And who are the most backed players?

In terms of the best backed, it’s the defending champion Scottie Scheffler who has already won twice this year including at the Players Championship.

The fact that he’s won around Augusta is most definitely swaying punters in his direction.

He’s been closely followed by Rory McIlroy as the most popular golfer with punters and between now and Thursday’s start, McIlroy could very well be the best backed golfer for the first Major of the year as he bids to win the green jacket for the very first time.

What would be a good result for Paddy Power?

Of the big three, Jon Rahm is the best result.

Like Rory, he’s yet to win a Masters green jacket and by the looks of it, punters seem to think that wait will continue this year.

Cam Smith and Justin Thomas would also be favourable results as it stands.
