Now, tee times are crucial obviously, but two players that I think could potentially, at big prices, be potential winners in terms of the first round leader are Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth. Let me explain why…
Dustin Johnson
I think Dustin Johnson is coming in a little under the radar this year. Obviously he joined LIV Golf, which was a real shame. But everything about LIV Golf suits Dustin, in terms of its relaxed approach and reduced schedule.
He can concentrate on getting a few practice rounds in, and his 2020 victory here is still fresh in the memory when he finished 20 under par. I don’t think anyone would be very surprised should he have an impressive first round.

Jordan Spieth
It’s hard to believe that the skill letting him down is his putting, because we all know Jordan Spieth in terms of being one of the greats on the green. But in recent times his stats have not been great.
However from tee to green he’s red-hot at the minute and has gone very close in recent events as well.
He’s a former winner at Augusta, back in 2015, and his overall record at the course is top notch as well.
He loves it here, he stated it clearly that it’s one of his favourite courses, and it’d be no surprise if the putter got hot that Jordan’s Spieth could be a first round leader.
