The third Major championship of the year is nearly here as Jon Rahm prepares to defend his US Open title.

Spaniard Rahm won his first ever Major at Torrey Pines 12 months ago but has been unable to add to his haul this year with Scottie Scheffler landing the US Masters in April and Justin Thomas claiming USPGA Championship glory last month.

When is the US Open 2022?

The US Open 2022 is scheduled to take place from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19. The cut to make the weekend will be decided after the second round of play on Friday, June 17.

Where is the US Open 2022 being held?

The US Open 2022 will be held at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. The Composite Course provides a challenging Par 70 for the field of 156 golfers. It will be the fourth time that the Country Club, one of the five charter clubs that founded the United States Golf Association, will host the US Open.

Who heads the betting for the US Open 2022?

Rory McIlroy heads into the tournament on a high after winning last weekend’s Canadian Open, which helped him climb to third in the world rankings. The 2011 US Open winner came agonisingly close to completing the collection of Majors when finishing second in the US Masters in April. He hasn’t won a Major since 2014, however.

Justin Thomas landed the second Major victory of his career when beating Will Zalatoris in a playoff for the USPGA Championship in May. The 29-year-old’s best performance in the US Open, however, came in 2020 when he tied for eighth.

Jon Rahm, the defending Champion, is among the favourites with Paddy Power to win the US Open 2022. The Spaniard slipped to second in the world rankings earlier this year but bounced back to form by securing his first tournament win of the season – the Mexico Open – at the start of May.

A string of tournament successes including victory in this year’s US Masters has seen Scottie Scheffler climb to the summit of the world rankings. He missed the cut at last month’s USPGA Championship, however, and has failed to finish higher than seventh in four previous attempts at the US Open.
