Tiger Woods drove the golfing world wild last week with a brief clip of himself hitting a ball on the driving range.

It was the latest step on the road to recovery following a serious car crash in February, which left the 15-time Major champion admitting he is “lucky to be alive”.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

The short video has racked up more than 7.5 million views on Twitter and sparked talk among fans of a return to the professional game.

Woods says he has “a long way to go in the rehab process” and believes a full-time return to the PGA Tour is highly unlikely. He has, however, set his sights on featuring in the Open Championship 2022.

“I would love to play at St Andrews, there’s no doubt about it,” said Woods. “It’s my favourite golf course in the world. Yes, I would love to be able to play that Open Championship, there’s no doubt about it.

“Physically, hopefully I can. I’ve got to get there first. The tournament is not going to go anywhere but I need to get there.”
