
Paul Dunne won his first European Tour title at the British Masters today, but he’ll thank his lucky stars for an extremely fortunate break he received at the 11th hole.
Rounds of 66, 68 and 65 put Dunne in contention coming into the start of the day’s play at Newcastle and a blistering 30 on the front nine today rocketed the Wicklow man to the top of the leaderboard.
He nearly come a cropper on the 11th though, as his approach looked for all the world to be missing the green and about to head off down a steep slope.
However, luckily for Dunne’s title hopes his ball slammed into a green-side sprinkler and bounced back onto a green to leave him just three feet from the hole.
Dunne sank the putt to move to -17 and saw off Rory McIlroy to claim the title. Check our his blessed shot for yourself below:
