Galway to Win
It all comes down to a Croke Park battle this weekend between two sides looking to end over two decades without lifting the Sam Maguire Cup. Galway lost out to Kerry in the 2022 final and the Tribesmen are pushing for a first All-Ireland football title since 2001.
Both teams have shown grit and quality to get to the final, but the edge looks to be with Galway, after ending Dublin’s charge in the quarter finals and holding on against Donegal in the semis.
It might not be a thriller for the neutral on Sunday but Pádraic Joyce will be confident of finally bringing the trophy back west.
Galway under 17.5 points
Following the theme of this clash being a tight encounter, with a low point count, Galway’s knockout stage score tallies suggest it will follow suit on Sunday.
Joyce’s side have not registered over 17 points in any of their last three All-Ireland games, heading into final with exactly 17 posted against Dublin (0-17) and Donegal (1-14), and 0-14 against Monaghan in the preliminary quarter finals.
Also, Armagh’s defensive strength means they do not concede too many points, with 12 kicked over the bar by Roscommon in the quarters and 1-16 from Kerry in the semis.

This market looks very interesting with Galway relying on points over the bar to power their assault to the final. After failing to find the back of the net against Monaghan and Dublin, Paul Conroy fired home against Donegal for a rare goal.
If Joyce’s team once again kick for points over the Armagh crossbar, that will not be a major concern, and incredibly the Orchardmen have conceded just one goal in their last five matches.
Shane Walsh to score from play in both halves
Robert Finnerty is the only player from either side going into the final inside the top ten overall scorers in the 2024 All-Ireland. However, the steadying influence of fellow corner forward Shane Walsh could be the key for Joyce’s men.
Walsh kicked seven points against Dublin, including three from open play, and three against Donegal, with one from open action.
He split the posts either side of the break against the Dubs and will fancy his chances of scoring in both halves against Armagh.
Conor Turbitt to score from play in both halves
At the opposite end of the field, Conor Turbitt will be vital for Armagh, as either their outright or joint top scorer, in their last two games.
Turbitt and Barry McCambridge scored 1-2 in the quarter final win over Roscommon but Turbitt took centre stage in the semi-final victory against Kerry.
He scored five points against the Kingdom, including two from open play, and he will be hoping to keep Armagh in the game if Galway get on top.
