Sunday 3.30pm: Cork v Clare
All-Ireland Hurling final match at Croke Park, Dublin

Cork to Win

Cork and Clare meet in an All Ireland Hurling final for the first time since their 2013 thriller. After a draw in their first clash, Clare won the replay by six points, to lift a first national hurling title since 1997.

Cork lost to Limerick in their last All Ireland final appearance, with a 16-point defeat in 2021, but they have a momentum edge ahead of this showdown in Croke Park.

Clare won the Munster meeting between the two earlier this summer, before eventually losing the provincial final to Limerick, as Cork were forced to go the long way to the final.

Wins over Offaly, Dublin and Limerick in the knockouts have propelled Cork here, as they ended the latter’s chance of a fifth All Ireland in a row, and that could be crucial against Clare.

Over 57.5 total points

Two of Cork’s last three games have featured over 57.5 points scored in total with final combined tallies of 65 and 60 against Offaly and Limerick.

However, Clare’s quarter final and semi final wins both came in below that overall score target, so the onus will be on Cork to find their mark in the capital.

Cork over 29.5 points

Cork’s firepower has got them to the final as they have conceded an average of 26 points in their three games ahead of the final A defence which is liable to give up points is helped massively by an attack that can smash the sliotar over the bar with no fuss.

The current average is 31 points per game, based on the last three, including five goals to boost the overall totals.

Leading the Cork attack will be captain and full forward Pat Horgan on the back of smashing in an All Ireland season tally of 5-62 (77 points) in seven games this season.

He only needs seven points to overtake Lee Chin as the top point scorer for the tournament against a Clare defence marshalled by full back Conor Cleary which has conceded 22 points in each of their last two games.
