All-Ireland Group Stage match at Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon
No goal in Roscommon v Mayo
A Connacht battle between Roscommon and Mayo kicks off the Group 2 action on Saturday evening. Mayo secured a 1-15 to 0-13 win at Roscommon in the Connacht semis last month and they opened up their All-Ireland knockout group stage campaign with a nine-point victory over Cavan.
Roscommon gave Dublin a few headaches in their group stage opener, but were ultimately overpowered and well-beaten in the capital, as the battle for third spot in the group looks set to be straight fight between themselves and Cavan.
Mayo only managed one goal in that semi final victory, and then failed to find the back of the net in their final loss to Galway as well as last time out at home to Cavan. Roscommon will also aim to keep their net guarded for as long as possible at Dr Hyde Park.
Saturday 7.00pm: Cavan v Dublin
All Ireland Group Stage match at Breffni Park, Cavan
Cavan to score first goal v Dublin
Dublin needed to dig deep to see off Roscommon at Croke Park in their last outing and this weekend sees their first championship trip out of the capital in 2024. Finding value in a Dublin All-Ireland game can be a tricky task but the Roscommon game showed their struggles to score an early goal.
They had to wait until the 65th minute before substitute Colm Basquel slotted home, and against a Cavan side which has scored seven goals in three Championship games in 2024, Stephen Cluxton could be picking the ball out of his net before his opposite number.
