Dublin v Galway

TV: RTE Two, 2pm
Galway -6
Galway are just going along, nice and quietly and they’re getting their work done in second or third gear. They were comfortable winners against Antrim last weekend. The fact that we have Michael O’Donoghue coming up against his old county means that he’s going to know an awful lot of these Galway lads. And then there’s Galway manager Henry Shefflin who I think will be eager to get one over on O’Donoghue.

I don’t foresee Galway putting out a second string side here. I’m thinking Galway and Shefflin will like a test before their potential Leinster final which’ll either be against the Dubs or Kilkenny. He’ll be able to find out a bit more about his team here. The fact that it’s in Croke Park as well and Galway have come unstuck against the Dubs in Croker previously, I think the lessons will be learnt from two years ago.

I think Galway will be on top of their game here. I think Shefflin will be eager to get a big performance over the weekend, I see Galyway winning this and covering the six point handicap as well.

Kevin Cooney First Goalscorer
I really like Kevin Cooney, he scored last weekend, albeit against Antrim. I think he’s a young lad who’s eager to push on and to build on last weekend’s performance and I can see him getting the first goals here against Dublin.

Limerick v Cork

TV: RTE Two, 4pm
Both of these sides have played three matches so far, drawn one, won one and both have lost one by a margin of just a point. It’s crazy to think that come 5:30pm, one of these sides is going to be out of the Championship because both have been involved in some absolute crackers in the Munster Championship this season.

Limerick -4
Every week they go out, Limerick are having the kitchen sink thrown at them. Waterford and Tipperary both threw the kitchen sink at them and you’d have to think how much have those games taken out of this Limerick team? And have no doubt, Cork are going to come with legs and energy this weekend.

One big thing for me was that last weekend up in Ennis, Cork didn’t win too many rucks. Clare won the vast majority of them and I only counted Cork winning one or two at most. I think that’s where this game is going to be won. It’s going to be a dog-fest, a real war of attrition around that middle third and I see Limerick winning that war.

I don’t see Cian Lynch being as poor again, I don’t see Gearoid Hegerty being as poor again either. You know, as poor as they were last weekend and as good as Tipperary were too, Tipp still weren’t able to beat the Limerick juggernaut on the day.

I think Limerick are going to get the show back on the road this weekend, I think they’re going to give a big performance. I still think they’re the team to beat albeit, they’re not at the peak of their powers just yet. If they get over Cork here and get back into Croke Park, they’re a Croke Park team, I think they’ll be strong favourites to win the All-Ireland. Cork have got to bring everything at the weekend but I think Limerick are due a big one. They know they have to win it and they’re going for four in-a-row as well.

I think they’ll cover the handicap and win by a five to eight points margin.

Aaron Gillane First Goalscorer
You’re probably looking at Aaron Gillane or Seamus Flanaghan from a Limerick perspective here. Or from Cork, it’d be Shane Kingston, if he plays, or Patrick Horgan. But I’m going to go for Gillane for Limerick and I think he’s due a goal.
