Dublin v Wexford – Dublin to Win

TV: GAAGO, Saturday 5pm

It’s very, very hard to separate Dublin and Wexford here. I was at the Wexford v Antrim game last weekend and if you weren’t there you missed a cracker. Wexford got over the challenge last weekend, Lee Chin was very good and Rory O’Conner was back to himself. Jack O’Connor was very good too while Liam Ryan went off injured, so there’ll be an anxious wait to see how he is for the Dubs.

We’re hearing that Chin might be touch-and-go with that shoulder injury and if he’s only operating at 50-60% of his normal output then that swings in Dublin’s favour. What’s really interesting about this match is that it’s been moved from Parnell Park to Croke Park and that’ll certainly suit Dublin better, even from a playing style particularly with the likes of Donal Burke and Ronan Hayes and a few more too, as well as it being where they love to play.

I’d have an inkling for Dublin here, the fact that Micheál Donoghue is in there now in his first year and I just feel that, well, they beat Wexford down at Wexford Park last year and then, of course, Wexford surprised us all by going to Nowlan Park and beating Kilkenny.

This is a massive game though for both. Dublin drew against Antrim up in Corrigan Park not too long ago but have beaten Westmeath since and I just have a sneaking feeling that it’ll be Dublin winning this one.

Ronan Hayes to Score a Goals

For a goal bet, you have to consider the inside players. Rory O’Connor looked absolutely razor sharpe last week, really back to his best. But, I just think that Dublin’s Ronan Hayes is due a goal and I like his chances here.

Cork v Tipperary

TV: GAAGO, Saturday 7pm

Cork to Win

Another massive game for us here. The fact that Clare beat Limerick last weekend has blown this Munster Championship wide open. Previously you would have been saying it could be three from five possible winners, but where Waterford are now, there’s a strong possibility it’s going to be any of four from five.

This is a game that Cork are going to have to win because their next fixtures are tough, away to both Clare and Limerick so they really have to go for it here against Tipp. And if they do win it they’re in with a great chance then of qualifying. If they lose their backs are going to be against the wall.

On the other hand, Tipperary got a great win in Ennis against Clare, racking up a big score too, scoring five goals and I think they’ll score more here at the weekend. I just can’t shake the feeling Cork are going to push on from last weekend. Tipp’s high score against Clare was rather flattering and it was really due to mistakes on Clare’s part so I’d have to lean towards Cork here.

Jason Forde to Score a Goal

I can see Cork scoring something like 2-24, 2-25 or maybe 1-26, 1-27 here. I think that pace in the midfield will be the difference. Tipperary’s defence and middle third struggled a bit against Clare and this Cork side are full of runners and when they get going they’re very hard to stop.

Saying that, I think Tipperary will score goals too. Jake Morris scored three the last day but I’m going for Jason Forde here. I think he was Tipp’s play of the League and I think he’ll get a goal for himself here.

Antrim v Kilkenny

TV: GAAGO, Sunday, 1pm

Kilkenny -9

I don’t see Kilkenny taking anything for granted going up to Corrigan Park. They can’t really. We’ve seen it time and again that it’s a very difficult place to go to and win. Antrim were very good in spells against Wexford recently and they racked up 1-26 and it was only for the Wexford likes of Lee Chin and Rory O’Conner that they came out on top.

I don’t think Kilkenny are going to take any chances and they’ll give Antrim their respect. The Handicap line is at nine points but I can see Kilkenny winning by more. I don’t see anything else other than a comprehensive win for the Cats.

Billy Ryan to Score a Goal

You could look at Eoin Cody, Billy Ryan or TJ Reid here. But I’d go for Billy Ryan. He showed a lot of promise throughout the whole of the League and he always has an eye for a goal so I’d be backing him here to score one over the match.
