Mayo have probably been looking at this game from a few weeks out and they would’ve rested a few bodies against Monaghan in round seven of the league with an eye on this.
A few lads will come in fresh, the likes of Tommy Conroy only came on last week and Cillian O’Connor didn’t feature at all. So I do think they’ll have enough fresh bodies to get over the line.
The championship obviously is a big deal for them, and they really wanted to win the division one as well and they proved it going out and defeating Galway last Sunday.
I do think it will be close on Sunday but Roscommon haven’t travelled well this year. They didn’t pick up any points away from home in the league. I do think Mayo will get over the line and it’s game on for them then with a two or three week break for a semi final. So it’s game on for them.
Mayo are at home but it hasn’t mattered to this Mayo team over the last few years playing home or away. They give everything they have every single time they play. There’s real good competition for places in the team and they’ll be really buoyed by that win over the weekend too. You cant beat going into the championship off the back of a win especially league honours.
I do think they’ll cover the handicap. They have the goal threats, and Roscommon, taking nothing away from them they are a good side but I do feel that Mayo will cover the handicap on Sunday.
