WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
18:30 Saturday – Wexford v Dublin: Dublin to win by 4-6 points and Con O’Callaghan to score first
After the league, a lot of people are going to be interested to see what Dublin throw out. Wexford had a big win last weekend, Ben Brosnan rolled back the years and they put up a big score.
I think Wexford at home will give Dublin a game of it. A lot will depend on Con O’Callaghan being back, I can see Dublin winning by four or five points but I can see Wexford giving them a game.
The man we’ve all been looking for is Con O’Callaghan and once he starts I think he’s your ideal bet for first goalscorer.
16:00 Sunday – Tyrone v Derry: Tyrone to win by 1 point and Darragh Canavan to score first
Tyrone are the favourites but I don’t think Derry will be too far away. A lot of people spoke last week about Galway and Mayo and the difference between Division One and Division Two football, but I think Derry will have this game primed in their head.
Rory Gallagher will have looked at this when the draw was made. You’re playing the All-Ireland champions who are down seven players from last year.
It’s a huge game and part of me thinks this could be a game where Derry say ‘let’s go at it, let’s throw the kitchen sink at them.’
It’s football so anything goes and my head says Derry could turn this one over. I think Tyrone will win by a point but I wouldn’t be surprised if Derry did it.
I think you’ll get goals in this one. Darragh Canavan is a big player now, he’s playing a lot more this year and he’s very influential. I think he’s a good bet for first goalscorer.
