When we were all locked down within 2kms of home in late March most Irish sports fans could only dream of having an All-Ireland final to watch, but thankfully things have panned out that we get to watch the game that stops a nation on Saturday evening at 17:00. Dublin and Mayo clash in 133rd All-Ireland Football final in the history of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in what is the fourth meeting of the pair in the sport’s showpiece since 2013.
The all-conquering Dubs are the first team in either male code to win five All-Ireland Championships in-a-row at senior level, and go in search of a sixth crown on the bounce this Saturday against a Mayo side whose much-publicised drought for the sport’s richest prize goes all the way back to 1951. The Westerners have lost nine times in the final since that day 69 years ago.
But, where will Sam Maguire reside when all is said and done? We brought in the big guns of Gaelic Football and men that boast seven All-Ireland titles between them to find out. That’s right, Kerry icon Aidan O’Mahony and Meath legend Colm O’Rourke joined us to debate all the issues ahead of Saturday big game. Of course, the pair were quick to tackle the big talking points with Rob Catterson from PPTV and we’re delighted to bring you their thoughts, along with their punting picks in video form below.
